大洲城下町
Edo-era castle town with restored machiya stays and 350-year-old cormorant fishing.
Called the Little Kyoto of Iyo, Ozu preserves Edo-era merchant streets now revitalized with craft breweries, specialty coffee shops, and restored machiya guesthouses where visitors can sleep inside a castle tower. Summer cormorant fishing on the Hijikawa River follows the same tradition practiced here for 350 years. The morning mist rising off the river creates an ethereal backdrop to the wooden castle.
