Overview

Ancient, mysterious stone circles used for rituals and burials by the prehistoric Jomon people.

Two massive Late Jomon period stone circles spanning open grassy fields. The site is thought to have served as both a cemetery and a place for ritual gatherings aligned with the solstices. The adjacent museum provides deep insight into prehistoric Japanese cosmology.
