Oyama Afuri Shrine
shrine
大山阿夫利神社
Sacred mountain shrine with glass-terrace bay views and a tofu-kaiseki pilgrimage trail below.
Perched partway up sacred Mount Oyama with a 2,200-year history, Afuri Shrine's lower hall features a glass-walled terrace café overlooking Sagami Bay, one of the most dramatic shrine views in the Kanto region. The pilgrimage trail passes through a tofu street where restaurants serve Oyama tofu kaiseki, a tradition linked to the mountain's spring water. A cable car shortens the approach, but the old stone-step trail through cedar forest rewards the effort.
