Orizuru Tower

Orizuru Tower opened in 2016 as a 19-floor building overlooking the A-bomb Dome and Hiroshima's cityscape. The name comes from orizuru, or folded paper cranes, which have long represented the prayers of Hiroshima's people. The top-floor observation deck, Hiroshima Hill, is built with natural wood and open to the air, with views reaching as far as Miyajima on clear days. On the 12th floor, visitors can create a digital origami avatar and fold their own paper crane to drop down a transparent chute to ground level. A running count of cranes collected since the tower opened is displayed near the entrance.
