Overview
Historic red-brick pumping station still actively supplying water to steel works.
A beautiful red-brick pumping station built to supply water to the Imperial Steel Works in Yawata. It has been running continuously for over a century, demonstrating the incredible durability of Meiji-era engineering. As an active facility, it can only be viewed from the outside.
Local tips
Since you cannot enter the building, visit the Nakama City Historical Folk Museum nearby for exhibits explaining its internal machinery.
