Climbable 1874 British-engineered lighthouse on Honshu's southernmost Pacific cape with dual sea views.
Built in 1874 with British engineering assistance, this white brick lighthouse stands on the southernmost cape of mainland Honshu's Pacific coast. Visitors can climb to the lantern room for 270-degree ocean views where the Enshu-nada current collides with Suruga Bay. The surrounding Omaezaki Natural Park has cliff-top walking trails and is one of the few mainland spots to watch both sunrise and sunset over the sea.
