Nippara River Valley Walk
nature
日原渓谷遊歩道
A turquoise river gorge with a pristine forest trail tucked into the far western edge of Tokyo Prefecture.
Beyond the Nippara Limestone Cave that draws most visitors, the Nippara River valley offers a quiet walking trail along crystal-clear water that changes from emerald to turquoise depending on the season. The path passes moss-covered boulders, small waterfalls, and ancient cedar groves, all within Tokyo's administrative boundaries, a fact that surprises even many Tokyoites.
The side trail past the cave entrance leads to a viewpoint above the gorge that almost nobody visits. 15 minutes of climbing for a jaw-dropping reward.
