Okubo-ji Temple

Okuboji sits on Mt. Nyotai near the Kagawa-Tokushima border and marks the 88th and final stop on the Shikoku Pilgrimage. Most pilgrims leave their walking sticks here before returning home, and the temple burns these offerings every spring and summer. For those who want to experience the full circuit in a condensed form, a room beneath the Daishi Hall enshrines 88 statues representing each temple on the route, with sand from each site underfoot so visitors can receive the same blessings without traveling the full path. The grounds receive snow in winter and draw visitors in autumn for ginkgo and maple foliage.
