Overview
A remote island worship hall allowing visitors to pray toward the forbidden island of Okinoshima.
Because the sacred island of Okinoshima is strictly forbidden to visitors, this distant worship hall was built on the northern shore of Oshima. On clear days, visitors can gaze across the sea to view the divine island. The site is a profound testament to unbroken ancient religious traditions.
Local tips
Rent an electric bicycle near the Oshima ferry terminal, as the island's roads are quite hilly and it makes the trip much more enjoyable.
