Ojima Island

奥武島
Tiny island in Nanjo known for cheap tempura shops, stray cats, and a walkable bridge from the mainland.
Ojima is a small island connected to the mainland near Nanjo by a short bridge, and it has developed a quiet reputation among day visitors for its combination of a sandy beach, ocean views, and a handful of shops selling freshly made seafood tempura. The cats that wander the island's lanes are well fed and unbothered by visitors, and photographing them has become part of the draw. The island is compact enough to walk end to end in under an hour. The tempura shops use fish and shrimp pulled from the surrounding sea, and eating it on the seawall with the view is the standard way to spend an afternoon here.
