Overview

Whale watching off Kochi's Pacific coast where Bryde's whales, dolphins, and false killer whales swim year-round.

The Kuroshio Current running past Kochi's coast brings Bryde's whales, sperm whales, dolphins, and false killer whales remarkably close to shore. Small fishing boat tours from Ogata Port offer intimate encounters, far less touristy than whale watching elsewhere. The sighting rate is over 90% in peak season (April-October).

Local tips

Book with Ogata Kujira (whale) Watch. Their captain has 20+ years experience. Take seasickness medicine beforehand. The Pacific swells can be strong.
