The draw is the physical scale of the Jomon pit dwellings, preserved in their excavated state on a Pacific-facing plateau. Some foundations are over two meters deep. Note that artifacts like pottery and carved whale bone are not on-site; they are displayed at the nearby Hakodate Jomon Culture Center.
