Hokusai's final home, now a walkable art town famous for chestnut confections and open garden paths.
The great ukiyo-e master Katsushika Hokusai spent his final years in this compact chestnut-growing town, and the Hokusai Museum displays his ceiling paintings, festival floats, and late masterworks. Open garden paths connect private residences, galleries, and chestnut confectioners in a walkable network. Obusedo's kuriokowa chestnut rice and mont blanc desserts use the local crop harvested each October.
