Meiji-era rice baron estate with 65-room mansion, artisan garden, and rotating gallery exhibitions.
The sprawling Ito Estate in Konan-ku was once the largest landholding in Echigo province, with 1,370 hectares of rice fields. The museum preserves the family's Meiji-era mansion with 65 rooms, a massive irori hearth, and a garden designed by Kyoto artisan Tanaka Senshu. Seasonal exhibitions rotate through the storehouse galleries.
