Vibrant shrine built by Kobo Daishi to guard the pilgrimage entrance to Mount Koya.
Founded by Kobo Daishi, this shrine overlooks the Jison-in temple and guards the entrance to Koyasan. The colorful, intricate woodwork on the main halls is breathtaking. It stands as a perfect physical representation of the harmonious blending of Shinto and Buddhist practices.

You reach this shrine by climbing the steep stone staircase located at the very back of the Jison-in temple grounds.
