Nippori Fabric Town
shopping
日暮里繊維街
A kilometer-long strip of over 80 textile shops selling fabrics from around the world at wholesale prices.
Stretching along Odori Avenue from Nippori Station, this specialized shopping street has served Tokyo's fashion students, costume makers, and home sewers since the 1950s. Shops stock everything from high-end Japanese silk and kimono fabric remnants to imported European linen, with many selling by the meter at prices far below retail.
Tomato, the largest store on the strip, has a bargain basement floor with remnants and end-of-bolt pieces from top Japanese designers at a fraction of the original price.
