Overview
Free public foot bath using the high-quality milky sulfur water of the Yumoto region.
Anyo-no-yu is a large, wooden-covered foot bath (ashiyu) located in the heart of the Nikko Yumoto Onsen village. It draws water directly from the nearby hot spring marsh (Yunodaira Marsh). The water is a classic milky-white sulfur spring, famous for its intense smell and therapeutic effects on blood circulation and skin. While not a full-body bath, it is one of the best ways to experience the quality of Yumoto's water without a significant time or financial commitment. It is a social hub for hikers finishing the Senjogahara Marsh trail. Since it is an open-air public facility, tattoos are irrelevant and it is a completely accessible experience for all travelers.
Local tips
Bring your own towel to dry your feet. The water is quite hot, so start slowly. After soaking, walk 5 minutes to Yunodaira Marsh to see the bubbling source of the water.
