Overview
Nikka's second distillery nestled in a forested river valley, offering free tastings and tours through copper pot still halls.
Founded in 1969 by Masataka Taketsuru at the confluence of the Hirose and Shinkawa rivers, Miyagikyo produces distinctively fruity single malts softened by the local water. The free guided tour walks through the red-brick still houses and aging warehouses set among trees. The tasting room offers samples unavailable outside Japan, and the on-site shop stocks distillery-exclusive bottlings.
