奈良墨体験
1,400-year Nara ink-making tradition, mix soot and nikawa to create your own sumi ink stick.
Nara has produced Japan's finest sumi ink for over 1,400 years. This museum and workshop teaches the ancient process of mixing soot with nikawa (animal glue) and kneading it into ink sticks, the same method used since the Nara period.
Your ink stick needs 3-6 months of drying before use. But the scent of fresh nara-zumi is unforgettable.
