Naoshima Bath I♥湯
Overview
Shinro Ohtake's working public bathhouse decorated with collage installations inside and out.
Shinro Ohtake's 2009 working sento, where the building itself is the artwork. The exterior is a collage of palm trees, neon signs, and salvaged ceramics; the bath inside has an elephant sculpture standing over the wall between the men's and women's sections. Locals genuinely use it. Bring a small towel and ¥660 — it operates on standard sento hours and is not a tourist showpiece.
Local tips
Closed Mondays. Towel rental is available but cheap; the locker key is a wristband.
