南楽園
Serene garden in Shikoku offering peaceful strolls and natural beauty.
Nanrakuen Garden in Uwajima is one of the larger Japanese-style gardens in Shikoku, covering several hectares with a central pond, stone lanterns, and plantings arranged to change with each season. Spring brings irises and azaleas, and the maple grove at the back of the garden shifts through amber and red in autumn. The paths wind at a relaxed pace and are mostly flat, making the garden accessible for a wide range of visitors. Uwajima's bullfighting arena and Uwajima Castle are within easy reach, and the garden works well as a quieter stop between those two landmarks. Weekdays are uncrowded, and the whole garden can be walked through in under an hour.
