Overview
Unique stand-up onsen featuring a 1.25m deep natural spring pool.
Fujisan Ryokan is home to the 'Shirozaru-no-yu,' one of the most unique baths in Japan. This is a 100% natural, stand-up onsen where the water bubbles up directly from the floor of a pool that is roughly 1.25 meters deep. Bathing while standing is said to apply beneficial pressure to the body and improve circulation. The building itself is a beautiful three-story wooden structure that has been designated as a cultural property. The 'Shirozaru' bath is mixed-gender but has specific women-only hours throughout the day. The facility is a pilgrimage site for onsen purists due to the quality of its water and its historical authenticity.
Local tips
Women-only times for the famous stand-up bath are 8:00–9:00 AM, 2:00–3:00 PM, and 8:00–9:00 PM. Outside of these times, it is mixed-gender.
