A 1904 Meiji-era library built in the Neo-Baroque style and funded by Sumitomo Kichizaemon XV, the head of the Sumitomo family. The central rotunda with its painted dome is the architectural highlight and is open during library hours. Designated a National Important Cultural Property in 1974. The library still functions as a research library; the main reading rooms are publicly accessible without registration.
Closed Mondays and the second Thursday of each month. Photography of the dome interior is permitted from the central rotunda floor.
