Naka-Michi Dori
shopping
中道通り
Narrow boulevard of independent boutiques, vintage shops, and cafes paralleling Sun Road.
A narrow tree-lined boulevard of about 80 independent shops, running parallel to Sun Road but two blocks west. The mix is heavy on independent boutiques, vintage clothing, secondhand bookstores, and cafes; many of the shopkeepers are long-time Kichijoji residents who opened during the 1990s creative wave that gave the neighborhood its current character.
Most shops open 11:00 to 19:00, closed Wednesdays. The boulevard runs north from Kichijoji Station's north exit; turn left at the seventh block for the densest cluster.
