妙高杉ノ原スキー場
Myoko Highland area of Niigata lies to the south in serious snow country, already popular nationally for winter sports.
Largest resort in the Myoko Highlands of Niigata, a region where annual snowfall regularly exceeds 10 meters. Runs descend over 1,100 vertical meters from the summit, with gentle beginner slopes at the base and challenging steep pitches and powder zones higher up. On clear days, the summit offers views toward Mount Fuji across the Sea of Japan coastal range. The snow season reliably runs December through April. A dedicated snow park serves freestyle riders, and the surrounding Myoko onsen villages provide post-ski soaking in waters that have warmed these mountain towns for centuries. It is substantially less crowded than nearby Niseko.
