Overview
Pond and foundational ruins of a spectacular Pure Land temple aligned with the setting sun.
The remains of a grand temple modeled after Byodo-in in Uji, built by the third Fujiwara lord. Although only the foundation stones and a reconstructed pond remain, the alignment with Mount Kinkeizan creates a stunning sunset view during the equinoxes. It reflects the pinnacle of Hiraizumi's Pure Land architecture.
