Overview

Mt. Takamikura rises 304 meters on the border of Kakogawa and Takasago in the Harima Alps. The Narui Course, a two-kilometer trail suitable for beginners and families, reaches the summit Takamiyama Jinja Shrine in about an hour. The longer Harima Alps Course covers eight kilometers and is more demanding with limited shade. On New Year's Day the Narui Course is lit at night for the many people climbing to watch the first sunrise. Cherry blossoms run from mid-March to mid-April, and in June and July rare sasayuri woodland lilies bloom along the trails. Clear days reveal views to Awaji Island and Shikoku.
