Mt. Ohata Hiking Trail

The trail to Mt. Ohata climbs to 1,353 meters through the Kirishima Mountain Range, a six-kilometer one-way route taking roughly three hours. The summit rewards with panoramic views across the range, and branching trails connect to Mt. Hinamori at 1,334 meters and Mt. Maruoka at 1,327 meters for those wanting a longer day. At 700 meters above sea level, Hinamori Auto Campground makes a base for overnight trips, with mountain scenery and clear night skies even in summer. Always check volcanic activity warnings before heading out, and note that the Hinamoridai main gate closes at 7:00 pm, or 5:00 pm in winter.
