Mt. Nokubidake
nature
野首嶽
Mt. Nokubidake in the Minamikyushu highlands is a moderate hike with a rewarding summit at around 1,344 meters. From the top, the view stretches southeast over the ranges of Minamikyushu toward Cape Sata, the southernmost point of the Kyushu mainland, and on clear days you can pick out the Osumi Peninsula beyond. Trails start from a forest road accessible by car, and the ascent through mixed deciduous and conifer forest takes roughly two hours. Autumn brings good leaf color on the lower slopes.
