Mt. Niseko Annupuri
nature
ニセコアンヌプリ
Niseko's main peak at 1,308 meters, accessed by gondola in winter for skiing and on foot from June to October for the 1.5 to 2 hour ridge climb.
Mt. Niseko Annupuri is the highest peak of the Niseko mountain range and the spine connecting all four ski resorts of Niseko United. In winter it carries the lifts, treeline gladed runs, and the back-bowl powder Niseko is internationally known for. From mid-June to October the chairlifts run for hiking and the summit ridge gives a clear view across to Mt. Yotei on the eastern horizon and the Sea of Japan to the west. The summer trailhead leaves from the Goshiki Onsen road on the south side of the mountain.
The summer summit hike returns a sea-of-clouds view at sunrise from late August through October; chairlifts don't open until 9 AM, so the early hike is on foot.
