Overview

The summit of Mt. Hikasa (62.1 meters) affords panoramas of Awaji Island, Iejima, and the coastal region off Himeji and Takasago. The route up the mountain is particularly scenic in spring and fall. During the cherry-blossom season, from mid-March to mid-April, the Yoshino cherries (someiyoshino) and Botan cherries (botan-zakura) are in full bloom. The mountain is one of the top cherry-blossom viewing spots in Hyogo Prefecture. It is also known for its scenery in November, when the foliage in the area changes to vibrant hues of red and orange.
