Ride a soaring ropeway up 1,212m tall Mt. Gozaisho to access Nagoya's closest ski resort and mountaintop activities.
Mt. Gozaisho rises 1,212 meters on the Mie and Shiga border, reached by a 15-minute scenic ropeway ride. The summit offers something different in every season: ski runs and juhyo, the ice-encrusted trees that form in winter, alpine wildflowers in spring, cool hiking trails in summer, and vivid autumn foliage in the Kansai region. Peculiar weathered granite formations dot the summit plateau, each with its own folklore name. A panoramic observation deck looks out to Ise Bay on clear days. As the closest mountain resort to Nagoya, it draws day-trippers year-round without feeling overwhelmed.
