Overview

Museum on floors 52-53 of Roppongi Hills founded by real estate developer Minoru Mori, one of Japan's building tycoons.

Mori Art Museum occupies the 53rd floor of the Roppongi Hills tower, one of the highest gallery spaces in the world. It focuses on contemporary art with rotating exhibitions drawing from Japanese, Asian, and international artists, often around themes of technology, urbanism, and identity. The ticket price includes access to the Tokyo City View observation deck one floor below, so even if the current show is not your interest, sweeping 360-degree views of the skyline justify the trip. Most nights the museum stays open until 10 PM, making it one of the best evening art destinations in the city. Roppongi Hills has plenty of dining options before or after.
