Famous landmarks of Suruga province (now part of Shizuoka Prefecture) are re-created in miniature inside Momijiyama Garden.
Momijiyama Garden recreates in miniature famous landscapes of Suruga Province across four distinct sections: a village, the sea, a mountain hamlet, and a mountain path. The central pond represents the sea, with rocks evoking the Izu Peninsula coastline and a miniature Mt. Fuji mirroring the actual view from Miho no Matsubara. A zig-zag bridge through iris recalls a scene from the ninth-century Tales of Ise. In the mountain section, two waterfalls frame maple trees and ivy, with aoi wild ginger growing near the base, the same plant that appears on the Tokugawa family crest. A teahouse serves tea and sweets in the ryurei style using tables and chairs. The garden was built in 2001 on the former castle's kitchen site.
