The restaurant widely credited with inventing chicken nanban. Miyazaki's most famous dish, in the 1960s. The preparation involves deep-frying battered chicken, dipping it in sweet vinegar, and smothering it in a house-made tartar sauce loaded with chopped egg and pickles. The original Tachibana-dori location still serves the dish in unchanged proportions, and lines of locals and pilgrims form daily before the 11 AM opening.
