Nightlife stretch of Showa no Machi in Bungotakada, a cluster of izakaya, small bars, and old-style snack bars gathered close enough together to make an evening of wandering between them straightforward. The snack bars typically seat only a handful of people at a counter, serve drinks with small homemade dishes, and often have karaoke. The Showa-era decor and relaxed atmosphere invite conversation with regulars and the bar staff. Other venues specialize in yakitori, seafood, and sushi. The main bus terminal and most of the city's accommodation are a short walk away.
