The Miyako Odori, which translates literally as "Capital City Dances" and refers to Kyoto's former status as the nation's capital, is a "can't miss" annual show featuring geiko, Kyoto geisha prefer this term, which means "arts child", and maiko apprentices dancing in their finest garb.

- Held during April only at the Gion Kobu Kaburenjo theater. Tickets go on sale in early March through the Gion Kobu website and at convenience stores. Reserved seating with tea ceremony (more expensive tier) sells out first. General seating is usually available until late March. Performances run multiple times daily.
