Mitsudaki Falls is a three-tiered waterfall in Hida-Osaka in northern Gero.
Mitsudaki Falls drops 22 meters across three tiers in a narrow gorge north of Gero, with the middle tier taking the longest single fall at 11 meters. In a rock alcove beside that tier stands a statue of Fudo Myoo, placed there for Shugendo mountain ascetics, and the spot is named Zazen-iwa after the tradition that the monk and sculptor Enku meditated here in the 17th century. The falls sit along a five-kilometer loop trail through terrain shaped by lava flows 54,000 years ago, passing basalt formations and additional waterfalls. The full route takes about three hours from Gandate Park, and Mitsudaki is a ten-minute walk from the trailhead.
