Overview
A massive 1909 Scottish-built crane still actively operating in Nagasaki harbor.
Imported from Scotland in 1909, this massive electric crane was the first of its kind in Japan. Remarkably, it is still in active operation today at the Mitsubishi shipyard. Because it is an active industrial facility, visitors cannot approach it, but it is easily visible from Nagasaki harbor.
Local tips
The best views and photos of the crane are taken from the water; consider taking a harbor cruise or the ferry to Glover Garden.
