三朝温泉
800-year-old hot spring in Tottori famous for radium-rich waters with curative bathing and drinking properties.
Misasa Onsen in Tottori has been famous for its curative powers for over 800 years. The waters here are naturally rich in radium, which apparently has some serious healing properties, both for bathing and for drinking.
One of Japan's highest-concentration radium springs, with documented therapeutic use since the 12th century. The main public bath is built over the Mitoku River, and in summer the riverbed itself is used for open-air bathing. The stone-paved old town behind the ryokans has preserved streetscaping from the Taisho era. Misasa is 40 minutes from Kurayoshi by bus and often combined with a visit to Mitokusan Sanbutsu-ji temple.
