Overview
Highest point on Hokkaido's national highway system.
Located at 1,139 meters, this pass offers a spectacular view of the sea of trees in the Daisetsuzan National Park. The small log-cabin cafe at the lookout is famous for its hand-dripped coffee and soft-serve ice cream. The view of the red Matsumi-ohashi Bridge winding through the primeval forest is one of the most iconic (yet remote) road-trip views in Japan.
