Mikaeri-no-taki Waterfall

Mikaeri-no-taki Waterfall sits at the end of a 30-minute walk through Dakigaeri Valley, just beyond a tunnel. The name translates to something like turning back for one last look, and visitors heading back down the trail routinely do exactly that. The falls drop 30 meters over a cliff face, and some visitors say the water pattern against the rocks resembles a figure in a kimono, though the shape is open to interpretation. Autumn is the most popular season here, when the valley fills with red and orange foliage framing the cascade. The final section of trail closes in winter due to snow.
