The former Tome Police Station building, constructed in 1889, was operational for 79 years.
The former Tome Police Station, built in 1889 and operational for 79 years, was restored as a police museum in 1987 after being designated a Tangible Cultural Property of Miyagi Prefecture. The two-story wooden building was designed by architect Yamazoe Kisaburo in a blend of Japanese and Western styles, with clapboard siding, carved pillars, and a balcony above the entrance. A 20-meter fire lookout tower from 1926 stands on the grounds. Inside, reconstructed interrogation and detention cells date to the Meiji era. Exhibits display police uniforms, sabers, illustrated records of local crimes, and vehicles including a 1980s Nissan Skyline patrol car visitors can sit in for photos.
