Meguro Parasitological Museum
museum
目黒寄生虫館
The world's only museum dedicated entirely to parasites, small, free, and delightfully bizarre.
Founded in 1953 by Dr. Satoru Kamegai, this tiny two-floor museum displays over 300 parasite specimens including an 8.8-meter tapeworm. Despite its niche subject matter, the museum is thoughtfully curated with bilingual exhibits explaining parasite lifecycles and their role in ecosystems. The gift shop sells parasite-themed T-shirts and keychains that make memorable souvenirs.
The gift shop tapeworm T-shirt is a cult item among Tokyo locals. It sells out frequently, so grab one if they have your size.
