Matabei Cherry Blossom Tree
nature
又兵衛桜
300-year-old weeping cherry cascading to the ground, framed by peach blossoms in a mountain valley.
Named after the samurai Goto Matabei who reportedly planted it, this 300-year-old weeping cherry tree cascades its branches to the ground in a spectacular dome of pink each April. Surrounding peach trees bloom simultaneously, creating layered pink and white against the mountain backdrop. The tree stands alone in a small valley in Uda, drawing photographers from across Kansai during its brief one-week peak.
