Overview

Mashu Onsen Roadside Station is a large information center and food market on the banks of the Kushiro River in Teshikaga’s town center.

Mashu Onsen Roadside Station sits on the banks of the Kushiro River in Teshikaga town center, a 20-to-30-minute drive from caldera lakes Mashu and Kussharo. The facility combines a bilingual information center with a food market selling fresh produce, local sake, soybeans, and Ainu crafts. A hot food counter serves locally sourced venison burgers and other warming dishes. Outside, a free natural hot spring foot bath is open to anyone. Drone footage of Akan-Mashu National Park plays in the exhibition space, giving a clear sense of the park's scale before heading out to explore.

Local tips

Wash thoroughly at the shower stations before entering the bath. This is non-negotiable etiquette. Bring a small towel but keep it out of the water.
