Makiba Park

まきば公園
Meticulously maintained prefectural park with rolling pastures and mountain views resembling New Zealand highlands.
Spread across the foothills of the Yatsugatake mountains, Makiba Park is a prefectural park that feels more like the rolling green pastures of New Zealand than central Japan. Sheep, goats, and cows graze in wide fields framed by mountain panoramas, and visitors can pet and feed the animals. The on-site cafe serves soft-serve ice cream made with local dairy, a must-try on warm days. It's an especially good stop for families traveling through the Kiyosato highland area. On clear days, the views of Mt. Fuji and the Southern Alps from the park's open meadows are exceptional.
