Lake Sai no ko
nature
西ノ湖
Lake Sai no ko is a small lake to the west of Lake Chuzenji.
A small lake west of Lake Chuzenji in Nikko, separated from the larger lake long ago by sediment buildup from nearby rivers. Japanese ash and other trees grow thickly along its peaceful shores, and the area is quiet enough to hear deer calls or spot them along the water's edge. To protect the ecosystem, only pedestrians and low-emission buses are allowed in the area. A 30-minute walk from Senjugahama Beach through attractive woodland brings you here, and the calm, clear water and clean air make it a worthwhile extension of any Chuzenji visit.
