Lake Hamana

Technically a brackish lagoon connected to the Pacific Ocean, making it large enough to have its own tides and currents. The mix of salt and fresh water creates ideal conditions for eel farming, and Hamamatsu's famous unagi restaurants source their eels from these waters. Beyond eating, the lake is a hub for water sports, wakeboarding, parasailing, windsurfing, and kayaking are all popular. The southern shore has amusement parks and resort facilities, while the quieter northern shore offers cycling paths and mandarin orange orchards with lake views.
