Kuzuharaoka Shrine
shrine
葛原岡神社
A matchmaking shrine on a forested hilltop with heart-shaped ema and panoramic Sagami Bay views.
Reached via the Daibutsu hiking trail or a steep approach from Kita-Kamakura, this hilltop shrine dedicated to Hino Toshimoto has become known as a power spot for romantic relationships. Couples tie heart-shaped wooden plaques to the shrine fence, and a natural stone near the entrance is said to split bad romantic luck. The clearing offers sweeping views over the treetops to the ocean.
Continue past the shrine through Genjiyama Park to connect with the Daibutsu hiking course. This approach to the Great Buddha is far more atmospheric than the front entrance.
